Arrielle, 2 years old, spayed female, pitbull mix, 35 pounds.
Arrielle is in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Arrielle was saved from the local high kill shelter in Houston and is now ready to be part of your world! She has not met many dogs in her home since she's still in quarantine but in the brief, supervised interactions she's had, she has not shown any signs of concern.
That said, Arrielle does tend to favor some dogs more than others, and would do best with slow, proper introductions.
Slow introductions look like a week or two separated from other dogs in the home, followed by interactions through a barrier (kennel, x-pen, baby gate), then supervised encounters while on a leash, and finally loose co-mingling.
This process may take one to two weeks, maybe more.
Another great tactic to ensure proper introductions are walks in a neutral space at a distance before slowing bringing the dogs closer and closer together until they're side by side.
We have no history with cats or children, and based upon her behavior thus far, would recommend homes with older children.
As a general rule, we typically recommend homes with kids over the age of 10yrs, or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues.
Arrielle has impeccable house manners and is fully house broken, crate trained and fantastic on a leash.
She walks calmly next to you and doesn't pull unless something catches her attention.
Gentle redirection works wonders with this gal, and she quickly gets back on track.
She is very comfortable in her kennel and feels safe in there, taking her meals and treats in the crate.
She has not yet been trusted loose in the house while unsupervised but her foster doesn't think this would be an issue because she's yet to show any signs of anxiety or destructive nature.
Arrielle is a moderate energy girl and does not require an active home.
She is easy going and loves to follow your lead.
Normal short walks and showing her love and affection are all she needs to be set for life.
She lives for one-on-one attention and enjoys chewing on a bone while curled up next to you.
Arrielle thrives on routine - she enjoys knowing her meals are at a set time, walks are consistent, and the structure that comes with a workday.
She can be a bit apprehensive when meeting a new person, barking a bit but with slow introductions, she warms up and will approach for pets and cuddles.
Once she has latched on to you, she is a very sweet, highly affectionate girl who loves pets and is quite treat motivated.
She's remarkably intelligent and highly trainable.
She is looking for direction and loves to show you that she is capable of achieving the given task.
She will sit for treats and listens to verbal cues.
Overall, she is an amazing and well-balanced sweet girl.
