Aurora or Rory as we like to call her, was named after the aurora borealis because like the rare beauty of the northern lights this girl was out-of-this-world and had us captivated at first sight.
We were at County picking up a puppy for our Programs Manager who’s beloved pup had recently passed.
We weren’t there with the intention to pick anyone else up as we had our hands full already at the rescue, but when we spotted Rory she was sitting as far back in her kennel as she possibly could, her body covered in hairless spots.
She was terrified, but she still had that sweet sparkle in her eye.
We knew she needed a chance.
Someone to look past her appearance and scared demeanor, and she left with us that day.
Rory was taken to our vet to be evaluated and was as healthy as could be! Her missing patches of fur proving to be nothing active and due to some past trauma.
We started medicated baths and her skin little by little has started to improve and her fur appears to be growing back a bit.
However, we think she’s cute as can be looking like a little spotted hyena! Rory is a 3 year old Pug mix who is an absolute doll! She is spunky, playful and sweet! She is currently fostering at Camp Bow Wow and gets along fabulously with all the dogs and staff.
