Meet Ava
Ava is gentle, fun and currently holds the title of "Outstanding Fetcher" at our shelter. She is definitely a favourite of our volunteers.
Ava is a medium-sized dog, weighing about 45 lbs. She is fit, athletic and smart - when playing fetch she'll bring the ball right back to you everytime and drop it without prompting. As much as she loves playing - there is a definite home-body vibe to Ava.
Ava was found stray and was not claimed. Due to her gentle nature, we believe she had previously been a member of someone's family. We believe she is a 2 year old Lab X. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her core vaccinations.
Ava knows her basic commands and is eager to please. On walks, she can pull on her leash and would benefit from some leash manners. She is inquisitive of other dogs and might be okay with other dogs in the home, this would be determined during the meet and greet.
Her specific adoption criteria include:
- A family willing to do positive reinforcement training to help her gain confidence and manners on her walk
- No small children, but we believe she could go to a home with older, respectful children
- No small pets
- For her safety and enjoyment, a fenced-in yard is recommended, allowing Ava to explore and play freely
- Daily mental and physical stimulation is a must for this active breed
So if you're looking for an active dog that likes a good game of fetch and then to cuddle up for a nap afterwards, look no further, Ava is waiting for you!
