***AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION *** Avril is available for adoption now.
???Avril is a Great Dane that we rescued from a kill facility.
She had been at the shelter past her stray hold and her time was up.
?We decided to take her due to being a large dog and shy.
The shelter said she had no interest in her the entire time she was there.
She wouldn’t walk on a leash.
She is terrified of cars.
She trembles terribly when she rides in them & flies out once you’ve opened the door..
?Avril was skin and bones.
A one year old Great Dane weighing 45 lbs.
It was terrible.
She had a protruding umbilical hernia that needed to be repaired, she had kennel cough and rear dew claws that were not attached to the bone therefore a risk or injury and needed to be removed.
Once Avril got to a healthy weight we scheduled her spay, umbilical hernia repair and rear dew-claw removal.
$600 later ???It took her awhile to heal from surgery.
Avril has finally made a full recovery.
??We’ve had her since September 1st so we’ve put a lot of time and training into her.
??Avril is potty trained, crate trained and leash trained.
She is shy around new people and will take time adjusting to her new family.
She will take time getting used to being in a car if ever..
Not sure if any trauma happened there..
She has to be fed elevated (due to being a Dane) and separate from other animals.
She will guard her food.
(Due to being starved) She is great with my kids, dogs, cats and livestock.
She is still young, therefore playful, so sometimes she tries pouncing the ducks ?
or chickens ?
?
so playtime needs to be monitored.
Avril used to be terrified inside the house.
She acted as if she was never inside before and couldn’t walk on the floors.
She preferred being outside, so it took time training her that inside is where she needed to be and now LOVES it.
???
Avril will bark at appropriate things if left outside.
Avril is a ridiculously loving dog.
She will make someone very happy.
