Beau is just a superb dog in every way.
He is smart, kind, and, loyal.
He is not much of a barker.
He guards, but not too much, he listens and learns and he loves with all of his heart.
He is handsome, confident, and mature.
He may just be a reincarnated knight or retired general. He is a true alpha, willing to let most things go, but do not push on his special spot on the sofa or his bones. He is polite by giving a warning growl if you have trespassed near him while with a bone.
He has long legs and the loping gait of a hound with a nose to go with it.
He has to be walked twice per day or be able to run in a fenced field.
If you have a large property/ranch he would be in heaven! He's an active boy for a runner/hiker would be heaven for him.
The streets are his smell-radio-news and he does not like to miss a day. He is also very alert and will let you know the second anyone or anything steps foot on your property.
He does listen to commands including off leash commands and he is a very smart dog.
Tragically, this amazing, beautiful, soulful dog has had a tough start in life, and we believe he was both abused and forced to live outside (see special spot on the sofa).
Because of both of these things he needs a slow and steady hand and he will not be a "beginner dog".
He will not be a lap dog like the bullies are but he does like a cuddle when he gets to know you- but that is key - you must earn his trust.
He weighs about 85lbs but looks taller.
Again, he is a very handsome boy, a tiny bit like a wolf hound with those big paws - just a tiny bit- and so smart.
He still needs to be socialized with more dogs to round out his great personality and countenance. We have not had him around small kids or any children of any size for that matter and definitely no cats or anything small or furry that you wish to stay alive.
Beau does get along with dogs as long as one applies the normal process of safe on leash intros complete with sniffing and tail wagging.
He's 7 and very mellow
