Meet Bennett
Bennett: 7-8 months, 45 lb male (expected about 55 lb when fully grown). He appears to be a mix of black mouth cur, plott hound and German shepherd.
Behaviour: Bennett is a “wellspring of joy!” and the happiest dog ever, his foster mom says. Bennett’s enthusiasm for life is contagious. Treat motivated, he is easily trained and eager to please. He is a goofy boy who loves hugs and enjoys laying on the grass. He is quite intelligent and curious.
Bennett is well balanced and emotionally intelligent.
Good with other dogs: Bennett lives happily and playfully with the foster’s four dogs. They all run and play together, and share the foster’s bed and the couch for sleeping.
Children: Being fostered with a teenage girl.
Cats: unknown but we will try to get Bennett cat-tested soon.
Housetrained: Yes. He is potty and crate trained.
Energy level: High energy. He will be the most successful with an active family who will continue his training.
Training: He is great at Come. He Sits on command. Stay: Still a work in progress?
Behaviors that need work: None noted. Just need leash training and more verbal commands.
Ideal home: Bennett is a sweet pup who would do well in any home with other social dogs since he is a social butterfly. He would be a great hiking companion or beach bum. Children 10+ as he could knock over smaller children in his enthusiasm.
Rescue story: Bennett was found stray and limping outside an apartment complex when he was 3 months old. Xrays showed his right femur was fractured. He underwent orthopedic surgery that included screws and 2 months of rest, and is now fully recovered. He walks and runs normally as if nothing had happened. Despite a painful start, Bennett kept his happy-go-lucky attitude. There is no doubt he is going to make a wonderful family member for years to come.
All our dogs are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, microchipped, and dewormed. Bennett is heartworm negative.
