Meet BLACKIE
Blackie is a sweet, settled, fluffy and pretty little kitty with a wide face and lovely amber eyes - looks like she has a good bit of persian in her. We rescued her from the SC Dept. of Corrections food services warehouse with three tiny little babies. None have been adopted even though they are all lovely kitties, probably because they are black. They are now almost 5 years old abd Blackie is about 7. Any of them can go together with Blackie, or separately. Blackie's children, Sushi (male), and Ranger and Mokie (girls) are black, but have short hair. Sushi is very friendly, confident, easygoing and outgoing. Ranger and Mokie are a but shyer, but will soon warm up once you get to know them Blackie lived around the warehouse for a couple of years, fed at the loading docks daily by the staff and inmates who worked there. She'd had other kittens who were rescued by others in the past, but noone fixed Blackie or rescued her until we became involved because the staff found her last litter in a pallet and if noone came to get them they were going to the pound. Blackie was pregnant again even though her babies were so tiny they fitted in your hand. The pregnancy was pushing up on her diaphragm causing breathing difficulties for Blackie, and when our vet X-rayed her she could see that Blackie probably also had a dead kitten inside her from the previous litter, so she had an emergency spay and soon recovered and was able to continue to care for little Sushi, Ranger and Mokie. She was a good little mama, and is now ready for a home of her own.
