Blackjack ~18-month-old male black Lab mix 70-lbs Not yet neutered Background.
This young dog was found roaming the streets of Fairfield.
The finder notified the local animal control and made "found dog" postings but no one came to claim him.
The finder decided to hold onto him during his stray hold period and contacted us for help finding him a new home.
Blackjack loves to romp with other dogs -- Leash walk with Blackjack -- Laser light chase with Blackjack -- What Blackjack's current caretaker says.
What a wonderful dog.
Gets along great with our children (ages 4 and 8) and our existing female dogs.
We have named him "Blackjack".
He is curious, playful, energetic, goofy, and loyal.
Blackjack is house-broken and crate-trained.
We crate him occasionally during the day for 1-2 hours and sometimes overnight.
He goes on at least one walk per day, usually with our other dogs.
He gets very excited when meeting new people, and wants to jump up on them, wants to play.
We have cats and he barks at them; have not trusted him to be off leash in the vicinity of the cats.
At his core he is a sweet boy and will be a wonderful member of the family.
He seems very young and he just needs some training.
He has shown that he is able to learn, it will just take time and patience from his new family.
What Blackjack’s Rescue Rep says.
Blackjack comes off the 30-day "stray hold" on 09 Feb.
But we are happy to look for prospective adopters now.
This young guy would do great in a home with other dogs and/or kids.
Needs some work on walking on a leash.
Not for a home with cats.
Medical.
Appears quite healthy.
Needs to get him to our vet for vaccinations, heartworm test, microchipping and neutering.
