Meet the Dukes of Hazzard Litter!
This litter of 9 puppies were born on 2/22/2023, so they are currently about 10 weeks old. Mom and Dad had been roaming around a woman's property. She had been trying to catch them. Unfortunately, the foster was not able to catch them before mom gave birth to this litter.
Bo Duke, male, Shepherd mix (pictures of mom and dad are listed), we estimate him to be a large size when fully grown.
He is a typical puppy with a lot of energy. He has been around kids and other dogs. We have no history with cats. He is working on house and crate training.
Although he is an adorable puppy, it is important that you have breed knowledge or experience. We are taking our best guesses as to the breeds of the parents, but feel comfortable there is a shepherd trait. We want to set our puppies up for success and being prepared for the needs of this breed is vital.
Shepherds are very smart and highly trainable. You must be willing to engage in training into adulthood, not just puppy classes. They are natural guard dogs, which means without proper socialization they can become territorial towards strangers and other dogs. There needs to be another dog in the home and a plan on how to properly socialize into adulthood.
This is also a working breed meaning they need a job to do. She needs both a mental and physical outlet and you need to be prepared to provide both as he continues to grow and develop.
We do not recommend this breed for a first time dog owner. The puppy cuteness certainly draws you in, but this is a life long commitment. We need you to be aware of the breed and be able to talk to us about your knowledgeable and/or experience.
You will need a fenced yard, she is not appropriate for an apartment setting.
Puppies under 6 months of age are placed on a spay/neuter contract until they are old enough to be altered.
For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away as crating them for long periods of time is not conducive for their developmental needs.
*Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
