Butch

?BUTCH: 9 month old male yellow Lab, neutered.

55 lbs Background:
Butch was initially purchased from a breeder in Texas.

He was then purchased by an older couple wanting to get a young dog.

They soon came to realize that they were not up for the energy of a puppy.

He was kept outside eight hours a day and slept in the garage at night.

From Butch’s Adoption Rep:
I received a call to come meet and evaluate a 9 month puppy at the shelter.

I met an adorable, friendly and exuberant attention seeking puppy who was full of beans.

Butch has come a long way in a a relatively short period of time.

He is treat motivated and has a soft mouth which is a big help in training.

He is housebroken but needs to go potty every four hours including overnight.

We are now removing the water bowl after dinner to see if that helps.

He sleeps on his dog bed and is adverse to being in the crate, possibly from his previous home that garaged him overnight.

Loves to fetch.

Still working on leash manners but improving.

Can get excited and reactive when seeing other dogs on walks but just wants to play.

Working on proper introductions.

Likes to steal items, shoes, remotes, phones and play keep away.

Is still bouncy and a jumper.

No resource guarding.

Can be a bull in a China shop at times.

Any kids in the home should be 7 and up due to Butch’s jumping and excitability.

No cats in the home please.

Will chase squirrels.

Is an escape artist when door is open.

Butch has become quite a barker so would not be good for apartment living or someone living in close quarters.

Lab Rescue is looking for an adopter who has experience raising an older puppy and has the time and patience to devote to this deserving pup.

Medical: Butch is neutered, Heartworm tested, updated on vaccs and chipped.

Butch is located in Los Gatos.
