Meet Cala

Meet Cala! Cala is a female, 7 year old, Akita blend. She is 65 pounds.

Cala arrived at the shelter as an owner surrender. She is described as a happy, fun, and lovable dog! She has lived and done well with cats, other dogs, and small animals, like rabbits. Cala loves people, kids, other animals, walks, car rides, and fun outings. She is described as a great watch dog! Cala is playful and confident, and is house trained. She is not crate trained, and any crate training will have to start from the ground up, as she is anxious in a crate. Here at the shelter, Cala is gentle, sweet, and attentive to her person. She takes a moment to warm up and feel comfortable with new people, but she's a very sweet and loving gal. She will need some time to feel confident in her new forever home. She can't wait to meet her new family!

Cala will need an indoor home and a secure containment area to stay safe from wandering and escaping. Positive reinforcement, fear-free training will be needed. Daily exercise and mental enrichment will be very important. If you have other dogs in your home, we would be happy to arrange a meet and greet with your dog(s) to make sure everyone gets along. We cannot guarantee how she will do with cats.

Cala is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed, and ready to go home today!
