Capone
This pet needs emergency placement. Please contact for more information.
Capone needs emergency placement due to behavioral concerns. While Capone has shown social behaviors with staff and caretakers that he is familiar with, he is beginning to display concerning behaviors as his length of stay increases. He has poor kennel presence when approached in the kennel (lunging, baring teeth, snarling), digs at his transfer door, occasionally leash bites on walks, and is now escalating to lunging at strangers during walks. Medically, Capone has dental disease.
A volunteer writes: Capone looks like a dog, a very cute one at that. But he springs into the air like a small kangaroo! His vertical leap is impressive, and he does it all for the toys. Balls, stuffies, you name it, Capone loves it. And I love watching him squeak his ball in my face waiting for me to toss another. Aside from his kangaroo springing, Capone is classic dog in looks - the patch on his eye, freckles covering his floppy ears, and inky blotted nose and mouth. He is deliciously cute, though thin.
Capone was found chained to a fence with some blood near his tail and eye. We don't know about his past behavior, but he has been a wonderful guest at the shelter, walking well on leash, and responding well to treats. He met a novel female dog while off leash, and greeted her with a soft body, sniffed and walked away. Capone is waiting to meet you.
What my friends say about me:
My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!
I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.
I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.
I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles!
I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me.
Please check for updated adoption hours.
