About Me Age: 8 years , my name is Carter and I would love to be your one and only BEST friend.
I love my hoomans! My perfect life would have adults and older teens to hang out with who take me on walks, short hikes or jogs, watch me explore the outdoors and chase lizards in the yard, enjoy my frequent grateful kisses or just have me accompany you around the house.
My nickname could be “Shadow”.
I’m perfect in the home: house broken, attentive, impeccable manners, I will bark to alert at the door and keep small critters at bay.
In the beginning, I will be laying right up next to your chair but as I settle in, I will give you space and lay where I can see you move about the house.
I’m so loving and sweet, I will give your arm a nice bump if you haven’t pet me enough.
I know the commands “sit”, “down”, “up” and “heel” and I’m learning to “wait”.
I love to sniff and run free in the yard, as long as my human is outside with me.
I’m great in the car.
I like both my foster parents and their college/young adults who were home for the holidays.
I am very affectionate and have plenty of love to share, offering my belly for rubs, occasionally jumping up on the couch for a momentary pet before settling back on the floor at your feet and sneaking quick naps during the day.
I’m smart and eager to learn; I settled into my new routines quickly and I’m ready for my meals, meds, walks and playtime whenever they are offered.
I’m patient and undemanding, happy to mold myself to your timetable, starting my day when you do, but when I see you getting my leash ready, my eyes shine, my butt wiggles and my tail swishes.
A few things do make me nervous – young kids in the home as well as other dogs in general.
I would prefer not to interact with either in the home.
I walk beautifully by my human’s side and love to be out but when I see dogs, I need a physically capable handler to help me work through my feelings and provide the space for me to feel safe.
I’m not a dog park or dog beach kinda dog but what I lack in appreciation for other dogs, I make up tenfold in my love for calm, adult humans.
I’m on a special diet for crystals in my urine and a medication to take the edge off some general stress but don’t worry, I come with lots of love and a heart full of gratitude for the right person who can provide me with a peaceful and loving home.
My Ideal Home Carter’s ideal home would be a young or retired couple or an individual living in a quieter neighborhood.
He would like to be the center of your universe – your one and only pet.
He needs a physically strong handler for walks in nature or hikes or even short jogs in the early morning air.
Carter would also love a yard so he has the opportunity for some free, off leash time.
No kids, small critters or other dogs.
