Meet Charles
ABOUT CHARLES
This southern gentleman is a 5 year old terrier mix that is ready to head on home! Originally a stray in Alabama, Charles made his way to Delaware from a high-intake shelter, to get off the streets and look for a fresh start. He quickly won over the hearts of our staff for his goofy smile and the wiggliest body we have ever seen! In addition to being super cute, he is also an intelligent boy. Charles already knows basic commands, keeps his kennel tidy, and walks well with a harness. He is very food motivated to learn, making the possibilities endless. Although he is a dog, this pup sometimes behaves more like cat. Charles can be reserved with new people and takes some time to warm up to affection from strangers. Once he is comfortable with you, he is sure to wiggle his way into your heart, and your lap!
Through our Doggy Day Out program, Charles has gone on loads of adventures and sleepovers with his favorite volunteer. She often takes him home for weekend getaways, where he has met several of her human friends too. He enjoys exploring local parks and trails, especially if there's a creek! Charles would be great for an avid hiker, walker, or as your running buddy. After some time exploring, he likes to cool off in some water before heading to his favorite local icecream shop for a treat!
**Charles is seeking an adult-only home. Once he trusts his people wholeheartedly, he is not very open to sharing the love with other pets, so he is seeking a home as your one and only furbaby.
You are welcome to submit an adoption questionnaire if interested in adoption! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis. We are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come for the meeting to ensure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
***Charles's adopter will receive behavior support from our certified dog trainer prior to adoption and post-adoption at no additional cost.
