Meet Cheddar
Cheddar is a large and handsome German Shepherd Dog that came to Murci's Mission as a transfer from SCRAPS when he failed to thrive in the shelter setting. He has en estimated birthdate of 1/09/2021.
Cheddar has come a long way since being integrated as a member of a family. Cheddar is extremely intellegent and learns new skills and commands quickly. He is the perfect gentleman when in public, making him an excellent companion for a family who would want to take him on adventures or even just a trip to Lowe's. He knows basic obedience commands and is excellent on a leash.
Cheddar has allergies to food and will be required to have a special diet of Hydrolized Protein food. Cheddar also has OCD and anxiety and takes fluoxetine daily to help him manage these challenges. Before fluoxetine he was chronically spinning and had chewed all the hair off of his tail and hips. His poor tail is still regrowing hair but we firmly believe that he will one day have a beautiful and luxurious shepherd tail just as he should.
Cheddar does well with dog saavy cats and kids. He can be uncomfortable with toddlers and babies so a home with kids old enough to listen and give him space as needed would be ideal. He would do best in a home that has a submissive or non-reactive dog as he has not had much dog to dog socialization.
Cheddar's ideal family would be one who is really looking to rescue a special dog that's been dealt a bad hand in life thus far. He's quite easy to live with but his combined medical needs make him a larger time and financial commitment than an average pet. Cheddar promises to make up for it by being endlessly loving and loyal. After all, it's not his fault that whoever brought him into the world disregarded the temperament and genetic health of his parents at the chance to make a quick buck by selling puppies.
Cheddar's adoption fee is $200 and includes his leash, collar, hern sprenger prong collar, birdwell muzzle, harness, ID tag, a bag of his food, and at least a month supply of his fluoxetine.
Thank you for checking out our boy!
