Chica came into our care in early December.
When she arrived she had a big surprise for us.
She was pregnant with 6 puppies! She gave birth to 6 girls on New Year’s Eve! Since coming to us she has been an amazing dog.
She is patient, quiet, loving, and gets along well with dogs, cats, and kids alike.
From the moment she arrived, Chica has sought out her humans lap to sit on.
She just loves being around people and gets so happy to see you if you have been out for a short while.
Chica has been a wonderful mother and it is clear this isn’t her first time having puppies.
She is incredibly patient with them, and took great care making sure they were clean and fed.
Even now she will still let them nurse her even with their little sharp teeth!! Chica still needs some work on house training.
This was interrupted due to her having the puppies and not wanting to leave them.
She will use pee pads however and will go outside if you take her out and stay with her until she goes.
She is getting better at this as the puppies get older and more independent.
She will walk on a leash but is a little anxious, especially in busier places.
She will stop randomly on short walks and will need picked up.
This will improve with confidence I’m sure.
She loves going on car rides and wants to go with you wherever you go.
Chica appears deaf or very hard of hearing.
She has no recall and should not be let off the leash anywhere for quite some time.
She does not respond when you call her, or when you walk in a room, until you turn a light on or stand in front of her.
She tends to follow other dogs lead closely and moves once they move rather than to being called.
In the home Chica is very quiet and easy to take care of.
She is very food orientated and likes her home comforts such as cozy beds and fluffy blankets.
Chica appears like she has probably had a very difficult life so far.
She really deserves a loving family and stable home where she can be adored and pampered.
She would do best in a quieter home with a family who is home a lot.
Whoever adopts her will be extremely lucky.
