Meet Choko
If you're looking for someone to be the light of your life - Choko is your boy! Fun, affectionate and young-at-heart, Choko is a delight!
Choko was surrendered to EHS when his owners could no longer keep him during a separation. He is an 11 year old Pomeranian, but for Choko, age is only a number!. Choko has a lot of pep in his step and keeps his foster family entertained with his personality.
He is food motivated and will remind you dinner was due five minutes ago. He thoroughly enjoys belly rubs and giving kisses. This makes building a bond through positive reinforcement very easy. He has learned basic commands such as sit, wait, leave it and come. He is currently being fostered with another dog, and while he has no interest in play or getting to know his housemate, he is really well behaved and is aware of her boundaries. On the other hand, he loves his humans! He is currently being fostered in an apartment with older children and a busy family, where he is happiest with his people. He chooses to be in the center of all the action.
Choko enjoys his walks and being outside. In particular, he goes for walks with one of his younger humans who is in a wheelchair and they both enjoy this very much. He was previously trained with puppy pads, but now he is learning that going outside is much better! He can be left alone during the day and is crate trained.
We have been advised by his previous owner that he is not very tolerant of toddlers, so we are not recommending him for a home with small children. We think he could go to a home with a calm dog and would be happy to explore this with a qualified applicant and we know he has lived with cats previously. We think Choko could go to a condo/apartment especially if someone were home most of the time.
Here is the checklist for Choko's perfect forever home:
- a family that will include Choko in their activities and make him a member of their family
- no small children
