Hola! My name is CLETA and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Belgian Shepherd Mix Age: 7 years Gender: Female Weight: 69 lbs (31.3 kg) Height: 70 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 84 cm (head to butt) Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - I was rescued when I was seven months old from Iztapalapa following the earthquake in Mexico.
I had been living in terrible conditions and part of my home collapsed during the earthquake.
As if that wasn't bad enough, my owner tied me up and abandoned me! Luckily, amazing humans were searching for dogs like me after the earthquake and I was rescued after two days.
I have been living at the shelter ever since and hope I will someday find my furever home! TEMPERAMENT - I am a very calm dog and I love the company of humans and dogs alike! I love my scritches! I am very sociable, but can be a little timid when going for walks on the street (can you blame me?) I gain confidence quickly though when I am with my humans.
ENERGY LEVEL - Low GETS ALONG WITH: Kids Unknown.
Dogs Yes.
I love to play with my pals at the shelter! See a video here.
Cats Unknown.
PREY DRIVE - Unknown.
I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING: Leash skills Work in progress.
I can be a little timid at first when heading out for a walk on the street.
I warm up fairly quickly, but I will need an adopter who is patient and will help me to build confidence.
A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Here I am out for a walk! House trained Work in progress.
Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges).
Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates.
WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.
HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc.
before flying North.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted.
West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits.
These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $ CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
