Meet Dakota
We are transferring in these two cuties from HSCO - they have not had any interest there.
Their story is the saddest...
"They were her ex-husband’s dogs. They had 4 Pomeranians at the time of divorce, and each were awarded two dogs. She did not want the dogs - they were her husband’s dogs. She tried to get him to take the dogs but because of the court ruling he would not take them. This happened a year ago. Sounds like since she took them over their lives took a turn for the worse.
She did not want them, so everything became a burden. She stated that they were reactive to other dogs, the female worse than the male. We have not noticed that in the shelter, and I think even if they were, it would be relatively easy to manage. Her history was very tainted with the fact that she did not like the dogs. She said no cats, again I think this is likely manageable. They did well with children 3ys and up.
Both dogs are housetrained and crate trained. They were crated together in the same crate. She sounded like they were either outdoors or in the crate with her. Very little time allowed in home outside of crate. This is a change from previously as she stated they were indoor dogs previously. She stated the female would use pee pads as well, but she didn’t like having them around, so she got rid of them. Sounds like she wasn’t taking her out on a routine or schedule, and with no pee pads, she was having accidents, which led to the outdoor only/crate situation."
Let's get them the lives they deserve!
