Davey is a gorgeous 9 year old cream and black boy who recently came into our program as an owner-surrender.
He is on the smaller side for a male GSD, weighing in at just 65 pounds.
Nothing makes this boy happier than being with his person; 24/7 human companionship would be his dream!.
He enjoys going to the home office with his foster mom where he hangs out on his dog bed.
Even though Davey has access to the yard via a doggie door, he prefers to stay close to his foster mom.
Davey likes to spend his evenings lying on the couch with his head in his foster's lap.
Come bedtime, he sleeps freely on a dog bed in the master bedroom.
Davey has perfect manners and aims to please.
He is house-trained and will potty on command.
He knows "come", "sit", "down", "stay", "house", "walk", "heel", "car", "dinner", "take it" and "leave it".
He's getting multiple mini-training sessions each day which he thinks of as play (or perhaps treat time!), so his obedience has advanced rapidly.
Davey walks easily on a loose leash and enjoys two short walks and at least one long walk each day.
Despite his age, Davey has enough stamina that we think he would make a good running buddy.
He rides well in a car and is content quietly hanging out in the back seat while you are running errands.
Overall, Davey is a very quiet dog, but will sometimes alarm bark - which his foster appreciates.
This boy is a social dog that likes meeting new people of all ages, especially if treats are involved! Davey is usually quiet and calm around dogs when he is walking on a leash and when he was younger, lived with a cat.
Today, he does exhibit some prey drive while on walks, but is a good boy who respects the "leave it" command.
When the fosters first got him, Davey appeared to have had minimal world experience but they have been good about taking him to new places.
Trips to Home Depot, walks around places with loud street noises, and even fireworks don't seem to phase him.
As Davey has gotten more comfortable in his new foster surroundings, his playful side has started to emerge! It is so much fun watching him empty the doggie toy box to find that perfect tug or plush toy.
Don't let his age fool you! He still acts like a young dog and still gets those playful zoomies! Davey is a level 3 dog being fostered in the East Bay.
