Meet Dolly
WHO WOULDN'T WANT THAT ADORABLE FACE, STARING LOVINGLY AT THEM FROM THE CHAIR EVERY DAY....
But don't let that pretty face fool ya. This girl has plans for the day and wants somebody who will join her, human or canine, and preferably both.
Dolly was found tied to a park bench by a volunteer park maintenance crew. Thinking she may have just been tied there while her owners used the restroom, they waited but after an hour....and then two...and then three, it became evident that she had been abandoned.
We suspect the people who tied her up and left her, probably fell in love with her cute fuzzy puppy face, as many people do, but were not prepared for her energy and intelligence. Athletics, energy, and brains, is a baaaaad combination for people looking for a canine couch decoration and one of the biggest reasons, so many dogs like Dolly, find themselves being deserted. Add to that, the expense and time it takes to keep that long hair, clean, tangle free and healthy, and you have the perfect, one-two, abandonment, punch.
So, to be considered for this girl, understand what she is going to need.
A) Activity. She is not a couch potato. She can be happy next to you on the couch but not every day all day. Boredom is not her friend nor will her boredom be yours. Bonus points for having another active, playful dog, needing a buddy.
B) Be familiar with the grooming needs of a long, fine, continuously growing coat. She will need to be regularly trimmed by a professional groomer or brushed daily. Don't have the time or the inclination? She is not the dog for you.
C) Have a tall, sturdy fence. This girl has mad jumping skills and while she is not particularly prone to using them for escape, she can easily clear a four foot fence from a stand still, so six feet or better, will be required.
D) While this one is not mandatory, it would be wonderful to place her with someone wanting to utilize the talents of a smart, agile, energetic dog for fun and games that take some training, like fly ball, agility, barn hunt, rally, dock diving, etc. She would make a wonderful adventure partner, for an avid hiker, runner or naturalist who loves to get out into the world, every day, in search of fun.
Dolly is about three years old, and weighs a wiry 17lbs. While we are never positive about our breed guesses, she has the haircoat and personality traits of the Coton De Tulear while also having the legs of something long and lean, perhaps in the terrier department or maybe a sight hound like the Italian Greyhound or Whippet. Who knows. She is white, long legged, athletically built, fluffy bodied and genetically wired for activity.
