Meet Donny

Donny is a 1.5 year old terrier mix that weighs 64 lbs. This gorgeous boy is lovable, snuggly, and oh so sweet. He loves everyone he meets right away and doesn't know a stranger. His best friend in his foster home is a 4 year old human and he loves to follow her around in hopes that he can sneak in some cuddles and belly rubs every chance he gets. This playful boy also loves the resident dogs in his foster home, and has even won over the hearts of the foster's older pugs.

Donny is deaf so his foster mom has been working on teaching him hand signals to communicate better with him. This smart boy has already picked up on learning how to sit and receive praise through hand signs, and is learning how to play fetch and drop the ball for his foster mom to throw again.

Donny is medium energy, so he is mellow with short bursts of energy and requires longer walks or play time daily to help burn some of that puppy energy. He gets the zoomies when he is really excited, but that doesn't last long before he is cuddled up taking a long nap on the couch. He is a great pup for someone who is looking for a fur-baby that is the perfect mix of active and laid back. He would be the perfect pup for someone who loves running on nature trails or going on hikes because this boy is always up for whatever adventures his human is up for, then when you get home, he will find a comfy spot to sprawl out to catch some zzzz's.

Donny is kid, dog, and cat friendly. He would be a great pup to join a family with both kids and other dogs. He adores the toddler in his foster home and is so gentle when playing with her. He also has done great with both large and small dogs, and even knows how to respect the boundaries of the senior pugs in the home. One of his favorite playtime activities is playing tug-o-war and chase with the larger resident dogs in his foster home. He has met cats and was interested in meeting them, however, they were not so fond of Donny so he politely walked away when corrected and waited for them to come up to him to say hello on their terms.

Donny is kennel trained, leash trained, and potty trained. He is the perfect gentleman when walking on a leash around the neighborhood and when meeting new dogs out in public. He sleeps in a kennel at night, but would love to eventually sleep in bed with his human because this sweet boy loves to cuddle. He does have the tendency to tear up his stuffed animals when he is bored, so we recommend keeping plenty of chew toys around so the teddy bears can be spared. His ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that he can run around and play in, and would love to have a fun, adventurous family to join on lots of outdoor activities.

Donny is in a foster home in South Texas and will be transported once adopted.

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.

Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed.

The total cost to adopt is $530, which includes a $300 adoption fee and a $230 transport fee. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, neuter procedure and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
