Duke is a cuddler, people pleaser, easy on leash, he is full of personality, not hyper, he is obedient, and he wants to be your best friend.
This boy is a pure delight and if you have kids I hope youll consider these points- he is self aware and gentle with them but still tries to cuddle and play with them.
He engages with them.
He takes treats gently.
He already has great house manners.
Hes not rowdy and jumpy.
He is easy to add to the household from what Ive seen (and Im a mom of a 3 year old and 6 year old).
Hes sooo soft with those velvety ears and a cute curled tail.
Hes 66 lbs and approx 2 years old.
Potty trained and well mannered!
Heres a video of his personality: While I have absolutely no idea on his breed, I chose to label him two different breeds that are notoriously good with family life because that is Duke.
Duke is the best family dog ever! He is extremely innocent around my kids.
He is so sensitive with them like he knows hes a big boy, and he has to be gentle with them.
He has a golden personality.
Despite his size he still finds a way to play and cuddle with my kids safely, he is so self aware and gentle with them.
Duke will stay in a kennel but its not his favorite place to be and I trust him in my house so I let him sleep in bed with me.
He stays there all night curled up on the bed until I let him out to potty in the morning.
He is so well behaved! Duke is really easy on leash and when I take him outside to potty, he just does one or two Pees.
He does not mark.
If he gets distracted, I just say his name and he perks up and quickly heals to me, hes very eager to please and very present with you.
One of our favorite things about Duke is how chatty he is, and not at all in a loud way, he knows how to use his inside voice to make a connection.
You can catch a few of his signature happy-grunts in this video.
Take a look: OK this next observation is strange, but bear with me.
While Im taking my nightly hot bath, Duke sits by the bath and then comes to visit and sneak in a gentle kiss on my cheek.
He is a companion boy! He loves to be around his family.
Duke is also goofy.
Sometimes he will get excited and nibble on my toes under the covers (does not hurt).
He can be playful, roll on his back, play with toys, etc.
He is a very happy boy.
He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, breed and age are, at best an educated guess with no way to guarantee.
Without a doubt though, Duke is a good boy, loves people, booty scratches, and is very dog friendly! Big dogs, small dogs, shy dogs, and the wild ones, Duke is great! Duke loves to play but also is respectful of the dogs that dont want to play with him.
He does try to encourage play at first and as soon as he realizes the other dogs arent interested in playing hes off trying to find a new play mate or hes swinging his butt your way for a little love.
Dukes ideal home includes other moderately playful dogs, the type that will play and also know how to take a break to lay in the grass for a bit.
He would also do great as an only dog, he doesnt need another dog to feel comfortable but he would love time to play with a friend occasionally.
This boy would love a home with a backyard, he loves to be outside, knows the importance of laying in the sun, feeling the breeze and exploring.
Duke has a great well balanced energy about him! When Duke met our resident house cat he was a bit too interested for us to feel like he would be a good housemate to a cat, he is still a good boy he just would do best in a cat free home.
Duke is gentle taking treats and it probably will not take much to teach him a few tricks.
We are willing to test Duke with anything you need us to in order to ensure its the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation.
Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference.
Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space.
We prepare them for adoption by properly vetting and providing individualized care through our incredible behavior program that consists of socialization and leash training for all animals that enter our adoption program prior to matching them with loving families who will treasure them for the rest of their lives.
They are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts once adopted, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! Three Little Pitties Rescue will soon be celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives.
Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 10,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be brought into our rescue program.
Together, we can be heroes.
