Frieda is in search of her forever home!
This beautiful girl is about 2-3 years old and was rescued from an incredibly overcrowded high-kill shelter in Texas. Frieda weighs about 70-80 pounds and is a purebred German Shepherd.
We are in search of the PERFECT home for Frieda - she sure deserves it! Frieda is the epitome of a German Shepherd - she is incredibly loyal, protective of her home and family, and very athletic. Frieda would thrive with a family, couple, or individual who is savvy of the breed and who has plans to keep up with Frieda’s energy and activity level. Frieda would do very well with an adoptive family who frequently hikes - or enjoys long walks throughout the day. Frieda would also benefit from a fenced in backyard, although, continued socialization outside of the home is key!
Frieda does wonderfully with children and enjoys spending time with her foster’s grandchildren, but we would recommend a home with children over the age of 10 due to Frieda’s size and energy level.
Frieda would do best in a home without cats or small animals. She currently lives as the only pet, but has done well with other dogs in her Texas foster home (following her time in the shelter). She can be more dominant, so a dog that can mesh with her dominant personality will be essential. She would do fine as an only dog, too.
Frieda is wonderful in the car and enjoys taking leisurely rides with her foster mom! Frieda is also housetrained and crate trained.
Frieda’s foster mom writes, “ She is affectionate, great with kids, smart, and oh so pretty! She is great with her crate, sleeps in it at night and goes in when I have to do an errand or visit some place that I cannot take her. She loves the car. And many other good qualities!”
Frieda would do best in a lower-traffic home. She is a very loyal dog who has the nature to protect her home and family, so she can struggle with a lot of coming and going. We believe that with continued socialization and the help of a German-Shepherd savvy adoptive home, Frieda can overcome this.
This girl is one of a kind - and we hope to find the perfect match for her!
