Grandma Lucille entered the Downey shelter with a sweater and microchip.
Yet, no one showed up for her.
So, we did.
Given 72 hours notice, we scooped this cherub up and went directly to our vet for a comprehensive assessment of her vision impairment, dental disease, heart murmur and spondylosis on her spine.
Her bloodwork was pristine and we decided it was a smart idea with that mild heart murmur, to perform a dental immediately.
Despite being vision impaired and hard of hearing, 13 years old, Grandma Lucy found hope.
This self sufficient lady mapped out her fosters home and gets around really well.
She loves being held or close to her person and would do well with someone retired or wants a lap dog while they work! Lucy's story is a testament to the love and resources we need to keep changing lives.
And, while Lucy rests comfortably in her foster home, countless pups still dream of escape from the shelter.
