Greenbelt Humane Society

We currently have a wonderful group of cuddly kittens and cats up for adoption.  If you don't see a cat or kitten for you on our site, visit the shelter to check out all of our cats/kittens of all colors and sizes.  And as always, we have our wonderful adult and senior kitties!

The Greenbelt Humane Society is a no-kill cat shelter that was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers in a local community. In 2001, after multiple fundraisers, donation drives and much community involvement, the GHS purchased the building in Alden, IA.  Individuals and volunteers donated time, funds and materials to prepare the building. In 2003, the shelter was licensed by the state of Iowa. In just two years time, over 100 cats were taken in off the streets of Alden and adopted into new homes. Through fundraising and grants from the Hardin County. In March 2018, the shelter moved to its new home at 319 River St., Iowa Falls, IA 50126
