Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved.
If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs.
IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply.
If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board.
We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Gunnar, 6-month-old, neutered male, mastiff mix, 52 pounds.
Gunnar is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Gunnar tends to be shy at first when meeting new people/dogs.
Once he feels comfortable, he opens up and gets along great with other dogs.
When he plays, it is your typical dog play: chase each other around, play fight, and fun-loving.
He is in a foster home with 3 canine foster siblings (older and younger, but all larger than he is) and he picks up well on their cues to stop playing.
He blends well into the pack.
He is very chill, he doesn't bark or tend to pull away to go meet another dog.
We have no history with cats.
Gunnar has met the foster's neighborhood kids (11y and 17yr) and he did great - allowed the kids to walk and pet him without any issues.
He is very sweet and kind and not super hyper, so we believe with the right training he would not have any issues with small children.
All he wants is attention and cuddles.
As a general rule, we suggest homes with kids over the age of 10yrs or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues.
Although Gunnar is a young guy, he already has a solid foundation of house manners.
He walks great on a leash - better than the foster's own dogs! - and is super easy to take out.
He follows you wherever you go and walks calmly next to you at your pace.
He is kennel and x-pen trained and appears to have taught himself to "go" outside only - he's never had a single accident in the house even overnight.
He enjoys relaxing in his kennel and is used to being crated during working hours.
Adding to Gunnar's impeccable manners is his ability and willingness to share - food, treats, toys, it doesn't matter.
He does not need to be fed away from the other dogs and has displayed no signs of food aggression or resource guarding.
What's his, is yours and he is happy to share.
Gunnar craves someone to love on him and pet him, and he is himself very cuddly and affectionate.
He is a puppy and he needs a family is familiar with all that goes into raising one.
He will need daily walks and play time.
His ideal home would have a moderate to active lifestyle.
Although he is very chill, he does have energy and likes to play, especially with balls.
He doesn't need a canine sibling as long as there were lots of opportunities to socialize - whether with play dates or doggy day care - but if his furrever home already had a brother/sister?
Well, he would love that too! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time.
