Meet Harper! Hi, My name is Harper.
I am about a 3-4 year old female Chihuahua.
I used to live at an emotionally and physically abusive hoarders home.
There were lots of us in the house and it was very traumatizing (PTSD) for me.
New things and places really scare me and stress me out.
I really want to find my human who will love me for the rest of my life.
My human will have to be understanding of where I came from and how it will take me time and patience from my new human before I will be able to relax.
When I come to my new human’s house I will be scared and will not want my new human to get close to me I may even hide.
It could take several weeks before I will warm up to my new human but treats are a great way to start but won’t take them from you, you will need to toss them to me at first.
When I am ready to get attention I will ask for it.
For the most part I like to be left alone.
I will be happy to see you when you come home but I don’t really want to be touched.
Although have warmed up a lot to my foster mom and will paw at my foster mom’s hand to get attention and like my butt rubbed.
I may even talk to you if you don’t pay attention to me in time.
I won’t do well in an apartment as I like to bark excitedly when my family comes home – I even do a little run and dance - and at noises I don’t recognize and sometimes just for the fun of it.
I am mostly potty trained especially with potty pads although having lived in a hoarders home I still might have some accidents.
I like to sleep on the couch curled up in a blanket.
I need to have a fenced yard.
It is really nice to sit in the lawn and enjoy the sun.
I don’t really like cats but maybe able to live with one and don’t like small children and may snap at them or a busy house.
It would be nice to have a brother or sister about my size to hang out with.
