Meet Ivy
Ivy is a 4 month old spunky, silly 6 lb. wirehair terrier mix. She is estimated to be around 15 lbs once she is full grown. This sweet girl is a major lovebug that just adores everyone she meets right away. She is the perfect definition of social butterfly because she wants to be best friends with every human and animal she sees. She is a big cuddler, and just melts into your arms and gives the sweetest puppy kisses when you pick her up. Her ideal family would be a good mix of active and laid back as she loves to go everywhere with her humans but also loves to lounge around and hang out at home, too. She is very well behaved and quiet when her foster mom is working from home, and is such a smart girl that she picked up on a schedule for potty breaks, play time and bed time within a few days.
Ivy is a low to medium energy pup that will require short exercise sessions a few times a day. She will run and play hard for about 5-10 minutes, then she finds a comfy place to curl up and nap. She loves to just do zoomies around the house and backyard, wrestle with the other dogs, and play fetch with her toys. She does not need super long walks, but would enjoy taking a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood before she winds down and curls up on your lap for belly rubs. She is very social so she would be great for someone who has friends and family with dogs that she can play with, or someone who enjoys going out and about around town that wants a confident, curious companion to join them.
Ivy is kid, dog, and cat friendly. She adores every dog she meets and does amazing with dogs both big and small. She knows how to adapt her play style to which dog in her foster home that she is playing with. She knows when she is playing with the senior pitties that she can bring a toy for them to a gentle game of play tug-o-war with. Then when she is playing with the younger pups, she knows that she can wrestle and play chase with them. She would do best in a home with another playful dog that she can run around in the backyard and play with, but if she was able to go to doggy day care a couple of times a week or have play dates with other dogs, she would be perfectly content. She would be an amazing pup to join a family with older kids that understand how tiny and breakable she is, and she would love the extra attention they would give her with lots of belly rubs and playtime. She is curious to meet kitties, but respects their boundaries.
Ivy is kennel trained and potty trained, and is working on mastering leash training. She does well sleeping in a kennel at night, but would love to sleep in bed with her human because she loves to cuddle and snuggle. She has learned to alert her foster mom when she needs to go outside to potty by barking at the backdoor, but will use a potty pad during the night if she has to go while her foster mom is sleeping. Her ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard and another dog that she can run around and play with, but would do well in an apartment, townhouse, or condo as long as she gets plenty of exercise time. She would do great with a family that works from home as she has adjusted well to her foster mom's work schedule and knows how to entertain herself with toys during the day while her foster mom is in work meetings. If her new humans work outside of the home during the day, she would benefit from going to a doggy day care so she can socialize and play.
Ivy is in a foster home in Central Texas and will be transported once adopted. Ivy cannot be adopted in Canada at this time due to her age and not being spayed due to her small size.
TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.
Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.
The total cost to adopt is $830, which includes a $400 adoption fee, a $230 transport fee, and a REFUNDABLE $200 spay/neuter deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
