******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************
Jayden, 5 years old, neutered male, Cattle dog/Basenji/Pitbull Terrier mix (our best guesses), 45 pounds. He is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport to an approved adopter.
Jayden shares a home with several other dogs. He really likes to play and will do best in a home with another dog who enjoys playing. There are two senior dogs in the home who have no interest in play. He does leave them along, we think mostly because there is a younger dog in the home that he is always playing with. He would do fine as an only dog as well. He is an energetic guy who has zoomies on a regular basis. On occasion he can play hard with his friend and is easily redirected. He also picks up on ques when this dog no longer wants to play.
He would benefit from additional leash work as he does tend to pull. He is generally walked with the other dogs in the home. He will sometimes bark at other dogs to say hi when walking with his crew.
We have no history with cats or kids. We recommend a home with kids 12 years and older.
He is housebroken and will let you know when he needs to go out. He is not a big fan of his crate and will whine. He will eventually settle down when he knows the humans have left the home.
Jayden loves to play with toys, but is deathly afraid of anything that squeaks. He is funny to watch because if it squeaks he will play with the toy softly enough so there is no noise. He is a smart boy! He is not big on fetching, but loves to run after toys you throw. He loves treats and is very food motivated.
He is afraid of vacuums and any loud noises. He is very alert. Jayden will put his head on your leg or seek attention if he needs to go outside. He sleeps in his foster’s room at night and prefers to sleep under the bed. He is not a big fan of the water hose or water in general. He loves to explore, so will need to keep an eye on him in a fenced yard.
He is looking for an active home to keep him physically and mentally engaged. He loves his walks and having another dog to play with. We think he would get bored easily if there is no physical activity. Once his foster felt comfortable, he has been left uncrated for about 4 hours. He did great. The other dogs are loose in the house and we think he tends to follow their lead.
He really loves to play and he loves attention. When his humans are home, he is always close to one of them seeing what they are up to. We think his foster dad is his favorite human. He is very cuddly and affectionate. He rides great in the car, but is VERY eager to get out so should be secured in some way. His foster dad uses a leash on him in the car.
