Meet Junior! Junior was a frightened little guy that was surrendered to Long Beach Shelter with his mom when their elderly, vision impaired owner had to relocate to alternate assisted living housing.
His mom was adopted at the shelter, and Junior proved to be even more scared when left alone.
We scooped him up to become a Frosted Face on November 29th.
He is 8 years old and weighs 15 lbs.
Junior ran around the play yard with a leash attached to him at first, so we could guide him in and out of his kennel.
In addition to how scared Junior was, he also had a horrific eye ulcer that we could not heal, so very soon after arriving at FFF, he had to have an eye enucleation, a dental, and neuter surgery.
He felt so much after having his very painful eye removed! Junior was soon sneaking up to seated guests and smelling them with curiosity.
Then, instead of hiding, he began spending time hanging out in the middle of the littles yard, sunning himself and shyly approaching volunteers to nudge their hands for pets.
Junior left on a two-week Frosted Fling that turned into a Foster home.
He is really blossoming! His Foster Mom reports: "Junrio is slowly coming out of his shell.
He follows me around and recently started running to the door to greet his Foster Dad when he comes home.
Junior can't be picked up yet and will scramble to get away from you if you try.
At first, he wouldn't come into the bedroom, now he runs in and jumps up on the bed waiting for us to go to sleep! He first only slept on top of the covers, but now burrows underneath to sleep between us.
Junior's leash is still on full-time.
He freaks out if you try to take his leash off or put another leash on, but he has become more comfortable being walked on the leash.
He is still afraid of new people but will warm up if given enough time or treats.
Junior loves to share his space with our senior cat.
He sniffs visiting dogs, but hasn't shown a playful side yet.
He is always ready to eat and is food motivated.
This smart boy even stands by the back door when he has to go potty! If you are looking for that couch potato dog that loves to snuggle up next to you while you read a good book or watch tv?
Then Junior is the guy for you! Sweet Junior is looking for a home with a patient family, comfy blankets, and ample treats! A feline friend would be an added bonus." Junior is coming out of his shell is his foster home.
Please consider giving him a forever home!
