Meet Kaizo
Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email [email protected]. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application.
Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.
Kaizo is the sweetest big guy who will make someone a fun and loyal companion! He is a brindle mix of about 80 pounds and 5 years old. He is very healthy and has a pretty pearly smile and the most soulful brown eyes. Kaizo loves all things 4-legged.....dogs, cats, even some horses and mules we meet on walks. He is also good with people, and very gentle for such a big boy. He enjoys long walks and keeps pace perfectly with his handler or another dog....he doesn't even pull at all. We recommend no very small children as they do seem to startle him.
He also loves to chase a ball, although doesn't usually return it, so you need to have a little pile ready. He is making great strides with house training if kept on a frequent and consistent let-out schedule throughout the day. He sleeps 7 hours or so through the night without a peep or a pee! He loves to chew on big tough bones such as benebones or nylabones, and will occasionally pick up a toy and toss it around.
A fenced yard is recommended, with yard time being supplemented by some nice walks. He has visited Senior centers and VA's, and we feel he would make a terrific therapy dog. Kaizo loves attention, but is never "needy" and seems to have little anxiety. He only barks when visitors first arrive, or when hearing thunder, sirens, etc. The barking ceases pretty much immediately.
All in all, this guy is a big winner! He gives wonderful kisses, leans against you, and really does want to please. He rides well in the back of our wagon or truck. With just a little more training and reinforcement, he just may be the perfect dog! Please apply if you'd like to meet your new best friend, Kaizo.
