Meet Keenan

Keenan is a playful 10 week old terrier and possible lab mix that currently weighs 9 pounds. He is expected to be around 40 pounds full grown. He is is super outgoing, easy going, and always up for some fun activities. This playful, lovable pup can almost always be found playing with his favorite squeaky toys. He loves to switch it up and grab a new toy any chance he can. Keeping lots of stuffed toys, balls, and ropes around will keep him so happy. He loves to gather them on his bed and play, play, play. He would do great in a family that would love to take him adventures and to new places. He is very curious and really loves to explore new things and be with the people he loves. He enjoys his human companions very much and loves to climb in your lap for snuggles any chance he gets.

Keenan is low to medium energy, so he will require some daily exercise such as playtime in the backyard or walks around the neighborhood. He would be a great companion for someone who is a good mix of active and laid back, just like him. He would love to go on adventures exploring the outdoors on hikes, and afterwards he is always up for a nice nap with his favorite human. He is easily entertained with toys, so on those rainy days when he can't get exercise outdoors, just give him a few new toys and he will keep himself busy until it is cuddle time. When he's ready for his nap, he will find a nice comfy bed with a couple of soft blankets, but really he would love nothing more than to snuggle in your arms to fall asleep.

Keenan is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He is very friendly and social with everyone he meets. He loves to interact with the foster family's dogs. He loves them all, both big and small. He even loves the dog-friendly cat in the home and is very gentle with the cats in general. Because of his playful, laid back energy, we know this fun pup would be a great fit for a family with children of all ages, and he would love to have some kids in his forever home to play and cuddle with.

Keenan is kennel and playpen trained. He is potty pad trained and is doing great with learning his potty schedule now that he has transitioned to going outside. He will need to have a structured schedule in his forever home to help him continue to excel in him outside potty training. He will still need work on leash training once he goes to his forever home. He would love to have a family that is a good mix of active and low key. He would love to go on fun outings, but if you want to cuddle on the couch and watch tv, he will be right by your side. His ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that he can run around and play in. He would do well in an apartment, townhouse or condo as long as he gets a couple of walks or exercise sessions each day as he grows.

Keenan is in a foster home in South Texas and will be transported once adopted. He cannot be adopted in Canada at this time due to his age. He will have a $200 REFUNDABLE neuter deposit on top of his adoption and transport fee that will be either paid directly to your vet at the time of his procedure or refunded back to you once the procedure is complete.

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.

Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.

The total cost to adopt is $830, which includes a $400 adoption fee, a $230 transport fee, and a $200 REFUNDABLE neuter deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
