Kendall

Meet Kendall! Kendall entered the San Diego Humane Society-Escondido as a stray.

When he wasn't claimed during his hold period, we scooped him up to become a Frosted Face on January 31st.

Kendall is 11 years old and weighs 15 lbs.

Kendall went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what she is like in a home, and it has turned into a Foster home! Her foster mom reports that Kendall continues to blossom and become more confident.

She seeks affection readily now, and as you can see in the video.

she loves to play fetch! Her Foster Mom reports: "All dogs come with a past just like humans.

Most of the time, we don't know how they lived, but we can make educated guesses.

*If you understand positive reward training- Kendall is easy.

She's so smart and will work for treats.

(Affection, once you've gained a little trust) *While she can be touch sensitive, she's also cuddly.

Just be gentle.

Baby talk a little! I've been with her 3 weeks and she will lounge across my lap.

*She was used to being walked for her potty breaks, so I escort her into your yard/potty area.

Over time with me, she's better about going on her own when I just open the door for her.

When I want her to go before bedtime, I definitely go out with her, then praise her or give her a treat.

I am rewarded with 8 hours of sleep.

*I've found it works would be best if you took her out before meals.

She's so enthusiastic about food that her mind is elsewhere and when she's done eating, you have about 20 seconds before she goes.

This is where the human needs to exercise some intelligence about the potty game.

I work from home so she gets to go out about every 4 hours during the day.

*She is sensitive about her collar being touched or leashed up.

She's getting better with time/trust/positive reward.

I imagine there's some unknown history there.

I wonder too if the collar pulls on her longish hair.

If you became her new family, I'd use a soft thick sliplead, that's the easiest with her and she is a happy walker.

*I would not recommend this girl live a life with kids.

I'm sure she'd be tolerant of a respectful visiting child.

She's great with all my friends that visit.

*Kendall is a bouncy, fun girl! She has all the cuteness of a Pomeranian with all the grace and intelligence of a border collie." We've also learned that Kendall gets along well with the two other dogs in her foster home and is easily redirected when she shows interest in the resident cat's activities.

She enjoys going for walks and has a cute bounce in her step.

She knows the sit commanad and is a treat-catching superstar!
