To provide humane treatment and shelter while seeking adoptive homes and providing second chances for Kentucky's equines, regardless of breed.
To educate the public and raise awareness for responsible equine ownership so that fewer horses end up in crisis.
To work with and serve as a model for organizations with the same mission in other states: to save America's equines from inhumane treatment.
Adoption Policy
At the Kentucky Equine Adoption Center, we meet horses from all walks of life. All horses listed on the website are either at our facility or at foster farms around Kentucky. We do get new horses regularly, so if you don’t find your perfect match right away don’t worry! Your application is good for one year for any horse at the Center.
In order to adopt one of our horses, we require an adoption application to be filled out. There are multiple ways to do this.
1) You can download the adoption application on our website or fill out an application online by clicking the button below. You can email the application and extra information to [email protected]
2) You can also mail everything to the address listed below.

**If you do not have access to a printer and are not comfortable filling the application out online feel free to give us a call at 859-881-5849 and we will gladly send you an application through the mail.**
Once you send in your application, processing typically takes a few days depending on how quickly we can get in touch with your references. We will contact you as soon as we get your application processed or if we have any additional questions. After your application is approved, you can set up an appointment to come out and look/try any of our horses.
Please note that the adoption contract forbids the adopter from ever breeding or racing the adopted horse.
