Kobe is a very social 7 year old boy.
He was bought as a puppy from a pet store as a poodle x havanese but we think he likely has mini schnauzer in him too.
Kobe has lived alongside kids, other dogs, cats and a budgie.
He came in to foster care because his family was moving to housing that was not dog friendly.
Kobe's awesome traits: -he is very social and LOVES people
-he is really good about being groomed and handled all over
-he LOVES going for walks and in his old home was used to going to the dog park
-he is really smart and eager to please and learns fast
-he is happy to chill on the couch but also loves adventures
-he is good in the car and loves a car ride
-he is really calm and chill in the house Kobe's growing edges (aka the cons/diamond in the rough).
-Kobe was never fully house-trained so he just learned about this in foster care.
He has learned exceedingly fast and is now only going to the bathroom outside.
He hasn't generalized this skill yet so his new family will need help him to continue to learn about not peeing in the house.
His foster home started with Kobe wearing a belly band (like a fabric diaper for dogs) on him when loose in the house, and bringing him outside regularly.
This worked really fast and two weeks in to foster care he is diaper free with no accidents.
-Kobe has some anxiety about being left alone- he is used to someone usually being home.
He will cry when alone so he is not suitable for apartment living.
-Right now Kobe is crate at night, and is getting sleeping meds to help him settle.
-Kobe learned in his last home to demand bark for attention/when excited.
He is learning SO FAST that this does not work in his foster home and rarely demand barks now (a squirt bottle has worked wonders).
He will need an adoptive home that can continue what his foster home started so he doesn't go back to bad habits.
He will also excited/happy screech at dogs/stimuli on walks- which is a work in progress!
-We have started Kobe on anxiety meds.
He will likely not need these long term but they will be helpful at first as he transitions to his new life.
Kobe has a really great temperament, especially for a little dog.
He also has some things he is just learning about! Kobe would do well with a family or person who has some dog experience in order to help him become all he can be.
Kobe has lived with kids most his life and really likes them.
If adopted to a family with kids we would like the kiddos to be 5+ years old.
His ideal home would have a fenced yard and someone who is home lots.
As he is very social he could live in a broad range of homes and would do well with a younger family, a single person who works from home, or someone who is retired.
He could live more urban or rurally, and loves goes on forest adventures.
Kobe's adoption fee is $450 in order to cover the costs of vetting.
He has been neutered, tattooed, microchipped and received his DA2PP vaccine since coming in to care.
If interested in Kobe please email for an adoption application.
As our dogs are in foster care the first step is the application in order to feel out match.
We are not a first come, first to adopt organization and try to match dogs and people in good ways.
