Male | Mixed Breed | 1.5 years | 24 pounds | Puppy energy | Has Dog Friends l From Mexico | Fostered in Toronto | Needs time and leadership to adjust to new people | Fun, affectionate, & playful
This is LALO! LALO has been keeping busy with his foster playing fetch and running in the yard.
LALO is a super playful and affectionate pup. It will take some time in his new home to get to that point because he can be nervous around people who aren’t yet in his pack (this can also mean other members of the household). A confident handler who gives him space and lots of training activities using his food (the key to his heart) is one he’ll do best with. For example, now that he's settled with his foster family he loves to be adventurous, socializing and learning things.
LALO loves affection (like, a lot), but it's important for his handler to maintain a leadership role and be firm in their boundaries & rules as they grow their relationship. Though his puppydog eyes may tell you otherwise, affection is something to build up to, starting with small pats.
Outdoors he is a great little walker. Fostered in Oakville, LALO passes people and dogs well. He likes space with strangers and will check up on things behind him! Living in a neighbourhood where it is easy to create space from other people and dogs on walks is going to set him up for the most success. Inside, he responds to new people by barking and is looking for someone to continue to help him work on this.
He has had some great experiences interacting with balanced dogs in Canada and Mexico and enjoys pack walks. He can go to a home with another dog if he gets one-on-one time with his human to build that relationship. Also don't get it twisted, although nervous once he settles in he becomes a true teenager and will need guidance in his home as he grows, Like with cats, he will chase them unless supported. Expect the biggest full-body tail wag once he knows he is home.
