Meet Leona
When Leonna’s inside with her people, she is just as sweet as they come. She loves to be with you, sitting on your lap, giving the best hugs and kisses. She will follow you from room to room with an ever-wagging tail. She just loves people so much! An instant mood brightener! The longer she’s at her foster home, the more comfortable she feels being on her own when her people are busy. She can happily curl up and keep tabs on you from the couch. While she’s had a little bit of whimpering here and there, she doesn’t appear to have separation anxiety. When everything is routine, she actually copes just fine with being left alone for a while. We think she would make a good apartment dog.
Leonna’s a Chihuahua mix, but we think she may be part kangaroo too! She loves to jump into your arms from the couch and she can do it from the ground if you give her a little assist!
Leonna is afraid of other dogs and will do best in a home where she’s your one and only.
We don’t know what her life was like before, but she’s working hard to overcome some fears. Leonna needs a calm home with someone who can be patient with her anxiety. Her biggest challenge is a fear of the car and a general fear of being outside. We’ve been making some progress, but she’s easily overwhelmed, so she needs to take it at her own pace. She’s learning to go to the bathroom outside, but she mostly uses pee pads and she’ll need to keep that at least as a back up while her training continues. The vet has given Leonna some mild anti-anxiety meds that are helping.
Are you the family who will give Leonna the second chance she deserves and show her what a safe, loving home feels like? She needs the right kind of home, but the rewards for loving this special little girl are huge.
