Please fill out an application to start the process to meet LILY! Meet and greets will be held in RIVERSIDE, CA = Lily is 8 years old and is a white and cream short-haired Chihuahua who weighs approximately 11 lbs.
Lily was recently diagnosed with a heart murmur when she went in for a major dental and 2 wart removals and she is on daily meds (Vetmedin 2.5mg chew tabs).
We do think that the heart murmur may reduce since she just had the dental done this month and dental disease can contribute to the murmur.
She was just re-checked by our vet on 1/19/24 to remove her sutures from the 2 large wart removals and she also had a blood pressure test with good results.
We’ve had many animals with heart murmurs who do very well on the heart meds and we are asking that you don’t let this stop you from giving this sweet girl the home and family that she so desperately needs.
Lily’s blood work was good, she had an X-ray showing no heart enlargement, her urinalysis was good and her overall health is good.
Lily is very special to us; we had adopted her out in to a couple in Menifee, CA and several months ago, we got that call that every rescue dreads; one of our dogs was back in the shelter! Thankfully, Lily is microchipped to the rescue and the shelter called us to get her owners contact information.
They never responded to the shelter, nor to the rescue and we quickly picked up Lily from the shelter and she returned to her original foster.
We wanted to cry when we saw Lily.
It was obvious that she had not had an easy time of it because her nails were horribly overgrown, she was dirty, flea infested, emaciated, and by that I mean, her weight was down by 5 lbs and her teeth were black.
She also had new growths on her skin that were breaking open and bleeding.
We do our best to give our rescues the best homes that we can, but sometimes, we fail.
We made a promise to this sweet girl that it would not happen again.
Lily is leash trained (using a harness), house trained and she has clearly always been an indoor dog.
Lily is a sweet intelligent small dog who is playful, gets along with other dogs and the kittens and adult cats, and although she is crate trained, we do not want her to live in one! We want her to have free reign in her home.
Lily came to us with her name – given to her by her former owner and we would strongly suggest that you not change it since she responds to it.
Lily’s perfect home will consist of a home with an owner who will be working from home or is retired and no young children under the age of 10 yrs old.
Lily is microchipped, current on vaccines and is spayed! This adorable girl would love nothing more than a forever family to call her own!
