Here is what her foster parents have sent to tell you about this beautiful girl: Luna's approx.
D.O.B.
is May .
Hello and welcome to my bio! My name is Luna, and I’m a 55 lb Shepherd mix (the perfect size for those who love Shepherd’s but want the breed in a more pint-sized package!).
I was rescued
near Bucerias, Mexico and spent about a year being cared for by Salty Dog Rescue before being flown to my foster home in Vancouver, Canada.
I am such a gem of a girl, that my foster parents, when they met me in Bucerias, had me specially flown to Vancouver so they could foster me ?.
I bond very quickly with those that care for me and love me.
Right from the start, my foster parents have been amazed by how easy I am to train! I respond to various kinds of commands
intuitively and willingly, as I am always eager to please my leader(s).
I already know how to trot beside my foster Mom’s bike when she rides, I taught myself how to swim, fetch and catch a frisbee (amazing, right!).
I am already trained to heel on-leash and am practicing heeling off-leash.
Recall is no problem for me because I always want to be close to my pack leader(s)! Even though I love long walks, bike rides, hikes, and outdoor time, I am, ironically, very relaxed when hanging around at home.
I’m truly a gentle and loving soul who will take any
opportunity to cuddle and have my belly rubbed by any one of my pack members.
Outdoors, I can be comical and klutzy as I throw myself into new experiences
(and bodies of water) with fearless gusto! I may have started out on the street, but that didn’t dampen my spirit as a bright and positive doggie spirit who is ready to take on the world! I have learned to meet all kinds of other dogs in a mostly polite manner.
I do sometimes greet other pups with a little too much enthusiasm (comin’ in hot!) at the beginning of walks when I
have tons of energy, but within 30 minutes I can take on the manners of a true princess (patience people, I’m basically a puppy!).
I’m still learning how to ‘play’ with other dogs, and I can sometimes mix up the signals and get triggered into nervous behaviours that can be misinterpreted by other pups – though never to any disastrous results.
Among the other few ‘edges’ my foster pack leaders are getting me to practice smoothing, is my nervousness around meeting new humans.
I tend to lure them in with my wagging tail and affectionate energy, and when they get close, I give little warning barks that can make them jump! However, if ‘strange’ human visitors hang around for a bit, I warm up pretty darn quickly and start looking for cuddles.
My foster parents are working on these few little ‘nervous behaviours’, and I’m making such great progress they think a ‘forever pack leader’ could easily pick up where they leave off.
I basically tick all the boxes for a wonderful ‘rescue dog’.
I would love a forever home with a pack leader who is familiar with my working-dog breed, as I love lots of exercise, stimulation, and spending time in the great outdoors (any nature
jocks out there?!).
I would prefer a home with adults and older children, as sometimes small children make me nervous (if they’re nervous) and I don’t want to accidentally scare any small people with my nervous barks (though I would never, ever hurt them).
I get along with all kinds of other dogs – big, small, puppies, seniors - but I can’t help but dream of being a pack’s ‘number one’ (a
position currently held by my 18 lb terrier foster-sibling.
Sigh).
Though not mandatory, I do think I would really suit being the only dog in my forever home.
Okay, I confess, I’m a bit of a princess ?.
However, I can envision a few cats as packmates, since these perplexing creatures fascinate me, I’m gentle with them, and I don’t chase them - maybe we could be friends?
I really hope you will consider meeting me.
I know I will make an amazing addition to a new forever pack, for the right pack leader(s)! My foster parents can’t believe how lucky those folks will be once they realize I’m the right fit for them, and they look forward to meeting you too ?.
