Meet Luna Lynn! This 6-and-a-half year old, 10 lb, long-haired Chihuahua is a sweet and docile girl who has come quite a long way in foster care and is on the search for a kind and loving family willing to continue the journey with her.
General Behavior: Adorable Luna Lynn is a laid-back and mild-mannered pooch. She is still healing from her past and learning how to be a part of a loving family, trusting those within it. With the right dog-loving humans, she is sure to open up to you, roll right over, and request some well-deserved belly rubs. Luna Lynn has a happy and loving heart, and once she trusts you, she is open to sharing all the love she can, including prancing around her home in excitement when you return.
Likes & Dislikes: Luna Lynn enjoys spending time with her family, especially her canine foster brother. Having another pup in her forever home is imperative for Luna Lynn, as the other pup helps her with her confidence and keeps her company. She is happiest when she has a companion who is similar in age and size to herself. She very much enjoys napping in comfy dog beds, especially if they belong to another pooch. Leashed, leisurely walks are one of Luna Lynn's favorite activities, as well as relaxing on the patio. She is not a fan of loud noises or quick movements, so a human that can provide her with reassurance is a must! She enjoys being held, especially when she's feeling frightened or unsure. But she also enjoys having her own space when she needs it.
Training: Lovable Luna Lynn has been showing off her training skills in her foster home. She has good basic manners and is even learning to give a paw'! She walks well on the leash and should always be walked on a harness, as she is easily frightened. She is comfortable when having the home to herself but requires frequent potty breaks, at least every 2 hours, when first settling into her home. Once settled in, she is able to extend time between those breaks.
Medical: Luna Lynn has a sensitive tummy and is on a prescription diet. The cost of this diet is comparable to any quality dog food. Luna Lynn will require her monthly Heartgard heartworm, as well as flea prevention, just like any other dog.
Other Animals: Luna Lynn takes great comfort in the company of other dogs, so she would love to have at least one other fur sibling in her forever family.
Children: Loud, unexpected, or new noises easily scare Luna Lynn. For this reason, a home without children is required.
Home: A single-family home or a dog-friendly apartment would be just fine for this sweetheart. Luna Lynn is still working on her confidence and should always be in a harness and on a leash while outside of the home. If something frightens her, she will dart off very quickly. She will require a secure home without frequent visitors. Most importantly, her forever home must be filled with love, kindness, and patience, as that is what this sweet girl deserves.
Grooming: As a long-haired Chihuahua, Luna Lynn will require an occasional trip to the groomer and brushing, along with regular baths and nail trims.
Overall: Luna Lynn is an affectionate girl. Even though, at times, she will still cower or startle easily, she is definitely learning more and more each day how to trust and just enjoy being loved. She is learning to show her happy, playful side and her sweet, loving heart. She needs a patient family who can help her continue her healing in a quiet and calm household.
