Meet Maddie

Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. Maddie, 5 years old, spayed female, Pitbull Terrier, 60 pounds. She is in a foster home in HOUSTON TEXAS and can transport to an approved adopter.

This amazing house hippo was an owner surrender to a high kill shelter in Houston. We have no idea what happened that led her to this shelter.

She shares a home with other dogs and likes to play. She can play hard and likes to wrestle around and chase the other dog. She does not play all the time, but will do best with another dog who is comfortable with this play style. She would do great as an only dog too. She does not react when seeing other dogs on leash.

She is housebroken, but has marked where other dogs have urinated in the house previously. She does really well when crated. She sees it as her safe place! She will pull on leash and could use some work in this area. All the dogs in the home are fed separately, so she is happy to enter her crate when she knows it's feeding time. She does not have any issues with bones, food or toys.

We have no history with cats. She shares a home with an 11 year old child and likes to sleep with her at night. We recommend a home with kids 10 years and older who respect animal boundaries.

Maddie is moderately active and really loves being outside to play fetch. She also really loves tug of war. She will roll over for belly scratches whenever offered. She has the stamina to run around, but also chills next to her foster mom in the house while she is working. She tends to pick up on the energy in the house.

She is SUPER loving and affectionate. She is happy to meet new people and loves when they give her pets. She rides wonderful in the car. She loves carrots and will gently paw at you when she is looking for some affection.

Maddie is looking for a home who is moderately active and will provide some outlets for her energy. A home that is wanting to give her all the love and affection.
