Main Street Mutt Rescue
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue who was founded on one little dog, named Cosmo, who was the very first rescue and successful adoption. We have since saved hundreds of dogs from death row at high kill shelters in other states. We get them all of their vetting, altering, and anything else they may need and them send them on their way to their new forever homes!
We are located in Whatcom County, but we also service , Skagit, King, as well as Snohomish County as well as British Columbia Canada
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age or 25 years of age for bully breed mix puppies (We do make exceptions on a case by case basis).
We do not adopt out our dogs to be outdoor only dogs, or chained/tethered for 24 hours a day, but in the same token we do understand that certain breeds do prefer an outdoor environment. But, it is very important to us that your dog is a member of your family.
We do prefer fenced yards, but they are not mandatory. We determine if a fence is required based on each dogs needs.
We do NOT reserve dogs. Once you have been approved, come to meet the dog, and have signed the adoption contract, the dog is officially your responsibility. You have 24 hours to take ownership of your dog, otherwise boarding charges from an outside source will apply started at between $10-20 a day depending on the size of the dog (This is to make room for new dogs who are sitting in shelters for a foster home spot!).
If you do not fill out the application in full, or fill it out with 100% truthful information, the application will be discarded without any further notice or notification from us.
If you are going on vacation, moving, etc, please email us the adoption application AFTER YOU RETURN or when settled into your new home. We are not able to house dogs until your return from vacation, nor will we hold them. This takes up space for another dog sitting in a shelter who could be saved.
