Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved.
If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs.
IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply.
If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board.
We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Major Aster, 10-month-old, neutered male, black mouth cur/ labrador retriever mix, 55 pounds.
Major is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Smart Major- Major is good-natured and sweet while also being probably the strongest-willed and most independent pup of his brothers.
He loves to run and play rough/hard but is good about getting calmer when he needs to during play; he's able to play softer with dogs who need it (like his brother Mace who isn't a rough player) but you can tell he loves to play more rough.
He is SMART- he picked up on "sit" within minutes and has "stay" and "no speak" almost down.
He's very intuitive and seems to really understand what you want from him when he's in a focused mood.
He is very treat motivated for training.
He is very loyal and will occasionally lean against your leg for some pets before running off to play more.
Major loves to run and play with his brothers; he tends to play hard but also knows when to calm down or not play so rough.
He's high energy while playing with Pluto but can be calmer when playing with other dogs, too.
He's been around his brothers (~55lbs) and has had an introduction with a Shitzu puppy (very small)- he wagged his tail and sniffed her from inside his crate.
He lives in a foster home with cats but we're not sure if he's cat friendly just yet.
He barks and wants to chase the cats when he sees them, and the cats run away before they actually encounter one another.
The cats and Major are kept separated by baby gates.
He calms down when playing with his foster's dog, and when meeting people or children.
He's met the foster's 9yr old daughter and does great, almost a little indifferent.
He does have a lot of energy but maybe could be ok around smaller kids too.
He has a great temperament and seems very intuitive about his size and appropriate behavior.
Major likes to be in front and tends to pull on leash, especially walked with his brothers.
Sometimes the pulling is minimal and other times, walking him is not fun because he pulls so much and is STRONG.
He needs some leash/"heel" training for sure but he's so smart, he'll be better on leash in no time.
He likes to sniff things and explore, so often will cross in front, go around or behind, step down into the street or pull.
Major Aster is nearly house trained but is still working on going potty only outside.
He will put his paws up on the counter to see what's up there and jump on and off the back of the couch while playing.
He is crate trained but often whines/barks when his foster enters or leaves the room, although he is getting better at this and calms down a little quicker every day.
Major is a good-natured sweetheart.
While he's the least human-dependent of his brothers, he still enjoys pets and the attention, although he'd much rather play with you than be still for cuddles.
He loves balls and his Kong treat toy, especially when filled with peanut butter.
Major would thrive in an active home.
He loves to go on walks and needs to be stimulated, otherwise he might chew up things to stay entertained.
His ideal home would have a yard where Major can play, especially if another high-energy dog to play with also calls it home.
And a family who takes him on walks and/or could bring him along hiking, to parks, etc.
His forever home would be patient with his puppy antics and willing to invest time in training his bad habits through routine and structure.
He is very attentive to his human and loves snacks, so training is made much simpler.
He responds well to gentle corrective measures and seeks to please but just needs more reinforcement in acceptable outlets for his lab energy.
