Meet Mamas
AKA Mimi 2–3-year-old spayed, 60–65-pound female pit mix and is currently being fostered in Nashua, New Hampshire.
She would love a person or family where she is the only pet, and while she would prefer a fenced yard (what dog wouldn't) as mamas is a bit of a home body so given the choice, she would rather have a soft dog bed inside where she can curl up (or her crate which she likes to sleep in sometimes as well)!
Mamas is very mellow, low key, sweet, loving, and ever so people-friendly pup but Mamas is VERY dog selective (her interaction with cats is unknown). And, as Mamas does get very jumpy/wiggly and super exited to see her people when they first come home (the jumping/wiggling lasts about 30 seconds and honestly can be pretty entertaining as you will never wonder if she is happy to see you) we would recommend a home where she is the only pet and where kids are 12+ just to be sure no one gets knocked over.
Mamas is house and crate trained and is very good inside the house on her own. She is also great in a fenced backyard, as she is relatively uninterested in goings on happening "on the other side of the fence" even if other dogs are barking in her direction. If she can't see where the noise is coming from, she wanders the yard unphased without a sound as she is not much of a barker. She is an excellent car rider and loves to sleep in the back seat of the car for short or even multiple day-long road trips without any problems. Mamas has been to obedience training, and she knows basic commands, however she doesn't get to practice them as much as she should so she will need some work to brush up her skills like heel and stay. She loves treats and toys and is usually an excellent leash walker (although she will pull if something excites her - and her owner will need to be mindful of her fearfulness around other dogs) and while she does get the zoomies in the back yard about once a month, Mamas usually prefers to lie in the sun or be inside.
Mamas likes a little bit of mischief when she first gets to know people - she especially likes stealing shoes and hiding them (without chewing) and she has been known to counter-surf (although we are working hard on curbing that). Mamas only vice is that she is a connoisseur of remote controls - otherwise she loves chew toys and Kong's filed with frozen wet food is her absolute favorite and will keep her entertained for quite a while. Speaking of food...she LOVES it which is great as training or reinforcing training is so much easier with a food motivated pup! She takes treats gently and will eat her breakfast and dinner with gusto but she does not resource guard so you can remove food, treats, or toys from her possession without issue (aside from some pouting on her part).
