Meet Max
Please contact Kristin ([email protected]) for more information about this pet.
This is Max the Magnificent! His personality is true to his breed in that he is super mellow and just a very sweet friendly boy. His appearance is that of a full breed Maine Coon, but we do not know for sure, so he may or may not be a full breed, no guarantees. He does not have the taller ears and ear tips of a Maine Coon. However his monstrous size, fur and temperament are Maine Coon. He weighs 15 pounds and could stand to gain one or two more pounds. Its hard to tell how large he really is until you see him! Max is 8 years old.Unfortunately Max was diagnosed as a Diabetic a few days after ARR received him into foster care. He also has neuropathy in his feet, likely due to untreated diabetes. However he can walk and get around. He does very little jumping. His doctor stated their is a possibility of the neuropathy getting better down the road with the diabetes being treated. The great news is that only after 2 weeks, his glucose levels seem to be stable and in a very normal range and he is doing well. Max needs insulin every 12 hours, (or it can be between 10-14 hours). He needs high quality food and is currently eating half canned and half dry kibble. He is a typical boy and loves his food. He also loves to bat a wand toy while he is laying or sitting! He has a powerful swing! He also loves his chin scratched!Max was likely not well taken care of before we got him. He was full of matts so he got a lion cut shave. Max deserves and needs a compassionate adopter committed to his health and well being and able to give the insulin twice a day. It's really a piece of cake and he hardly knows when its being administered. Foster mom can train you.Max can be visited in Fort Collins and the foster mom will gladly answer all questions.foster: cp
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care. Highly requested breeds help cover the vet costs incurred by some of our other cats, enabling us to save more lives!
$250 for purebred/highly requested kittens, 6 months or younger, such as Siamese mixes, Maine Coon mixes. These 'guardian kittens' help support our rescue work by covering vet costs for other kittens.
