MCKINLEY was abandoned, rescued by a Good Samaritan and gave birth to 11 puppies just days later.
The Good Samaritan was not able to keep McKinley and her sweet family and surrendered them to the Shelter, only to have Animal Rescue of Tracy take them into FOSTER CARE -- (a Shelter is NOT a place for a young Mom with 11 puppies to live!) McKinley is definitely all Husky, right down to the two different color eyes, a trait well-known in the breed.
McKinley did exceptionally well nursing her puppies, given that all indications are this is her first litter and she is a young Mom.
She is crate-trained -- sleeping in a crate at night in her foster's room for 8 straight hours.
She is learning about toys and how to play.
She has had a few accidents in the house, but they are rare, as she is a fast-learner.
She is very slender and loves TREATS and food in general.
McKinley is good with the small dogs in her current foster home and is good with kids.
Now that the pups have been weaned, we are working on helping her put on some badly needed weight.
McKinley is a WORKING dog and will need a "job" that gives her the opportunity to release her Husky energy like going on daily walks with her new family.
McKinley has an appointment to be fixed on 2/22/24 and should be ready for her FOREVER HOME shortly afterwards.
Adoption fee of $ includes spay/neuter, current on vaccines, dewormed, microchip, and free vet exam within 5 days of adoption.
Because we are a small rescue, we do not adopt farther than 100 miles from Tracy, CA.
It's simply not possible to facilitate a home visit farther away from here.
