Meet Merkel
Merkel is about 2 years old. When he was a small puppy, he was shot. The bullet landed very close to his spine, and he lost the use of his back legs. As he grew, his legs became hyper extended and could no longer bend.
They stuck out to the side and were causing him mobility issues. Plus because they were hyper extended, they became a great risk of getting fractured.
Because of his hyperextension, we decided along with orthopedic specialists, that removing his legs would be his best option.
Merkel is now a double amputee. He did so well through his surgery and recovery. He now has a hind end cart so he can go for walks.
Merkel is looking for an extremely special home.
