Meet Mia
Meet Miss Mia!
This sweet Australian Shepherd mix is the complete package!
She is estimated to be 4 years old and weighs 61 pounds.
Mia is up-to-date on all of her annual shots, heart worm negative, and spayed.
In her early years, she had some negative experiences with men which caused some trust issues that she is working through and is quickly learning that not all men are bad! Men need to approach her slowly and calmly as she is still building trust and confidence. No worries though - she does not show any signs of aggression when she is nervous or uneasy. She becomes very submissive and cowers on the ground. Mia LOVES women and has no issues with them.
Mia has been supervised around children a handful of times and each interaction has been positive. We think she will do great in a home with children as long as her boundaries are respected.
We believe the perfect home for Mia will include at least one other dog for her to play with and learn from. Having a friend around helps dogs build confidence, emotionally thrive, and learn manners they may not know yet. Mia pays very little attention to the indoor cat she is living with currently and only wants to play with the outdoor cats who will let her. When Mia is alone (not with people or animals), she has some issues with separation anxiety mixed with some stress which results in her becoming destructive at times.
Mia is house trained for the most part. She will have an accident inside if her fosters do not pick up on her cues that she needs to go outside. She does her best to let them know when it is time to go!
When Mia comes back inside from her playtime outside, she is a bit rowdy but quickly calms down. She wants to be with her people and will follow them around the house when she is awake. If she's napping then she does not mind being alone.
Mia's favorite things to do outside are run circles around her yard and play tag with her people. She's not a huge fan of fetch and would much rather have bones to chew on and stuffed animals to rip up. She LOVES every walk she's taken on no matter how long it is.
She enjoys going for rides in the car and is the best copilot regardless of how long the drive it. Occasionally she likes to poke her nose out of the window to get a good sniff of the outside then she lays back down.
Mia has good leash manners. She will pull a little bit at first to see how much of the limits she can push but settles down once corrected.
