Michelle, 1.5 years old, spayed female, Staffordshire Terrier mix, 48 pounds. She is in a foster home in Houston, Texas and can transport to an approved adopter.
Michelle is a super friendly dog ready for a home to call her own. She was saved from euthanasia at a high kill shelter in Houston. She is very dog friendly and loves hanging out with the other dogs in the home. She likes to play and nap with the other dogs. She is larger than both the other dogs and can sometimes play a little too hard. This is never intentional and she always picks up on ques.
She is energetic when playing outside. If the other dogs are feeling rambunctious inside the home, she will join in. Otherwise she spends a lot of inside time napping and lounging.
We have no history with cats. She has met children ages 8 and older and was very loving. She tends to jump when excited. We recommend a home with kids 12 years and older.
Michelle pulls a little bit on leash. She takes direction and corrections well. She tends to walk in front of you. We recommend continued guidance in this area.
She is fully housebroken and has no issues in her crate. She will often go into her crate during the day to hang out. She is very food motivated. She is fed away from the other dogs as she does try to eat their food before they finish it. She generally does well at treat time, but will sometimes steal the treat from another dog. She responds well when you tell her to stop.
We do want to note that she enjoys chewing on things- sticks especially. She should be crated when unsupervised. She is able to scale fences, so she will need to be monitored in a backyard. She would also do well in an apartment setting with consistent exercise.
We think she would do well with another dog in the home and would love to have a friend. She is very lovable and a fun dog. She likes to sit with her entire upper body ON her person. Also, she likes to stand over a person who is sitting on the couch or floor, looking for pets.
